UNITED NATIONS INITIATIVE

World Water Day 2010 activities will aim to communicate messages on water quality, ecosystems and human well-being.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is coordinating the organization of the World Water Day 2010 campaign on behalf of UN-Water and in collaboration with FAO, UNDP, UNECE, UNICEF, UNESCO, UN-Habitat, WHO, and the UN-Water Decade Programme on Advocacy and Communication as well as with partner organizations such as International Water Association, World Wide Fund for Nature and World Water Council.

UN-Water is dedicating World Water Day 2010 to the theme of water quality, reflecting its importance alongside quantity of the resource in water management.

The World Water Day 2010 and its campaign is envisaged to:
  • Raise awareness about sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being through addressing the increasing water quality challenges in water management and

  • Raise the profile of water quality by encouraging governments, organizations, communities, and individuals around the world to actively engage in proactively addressing water quality e.g. in pollution prevention, clean up and restoration.

WORLD WATER DAY INITIATIVE

International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.

Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. On this page, we present a brief overview of the different themes that have been the focus of World Water Day celebrations.

HAPPY NEW YEAR..!

The eve of New Year is all about celebration, about partying, about happiness and joy, family and friends. But to Samsthapana, it is this new year was very much more than just them. To the team, it was the best day so far. There were just smiles all the way through out the day. It was all a special day for Samsthapana. The New year was celebrated at NIRMAL SISHU BHAVAN- A HOME FOR ABANDONED AND DESTITUTE CHILDREN  in vijayawada. It is a home for many destitute physically and mentally challenged children .

We had a great time with those little children who just knew about a smile and nothing else. We also got a New year cake for the children along with the morning's breakfast and sweets. The happiness that we experienced to see on the every child’s face made our day. The children were all very happy and so were we. The cake added to their happiness the sweetness of it to make a sweet day too. All the time we spent there was a great one.

We took along with us some plastic balloons and balls, Children enjoyed and played with them for a long time, Sandeep was also greatly involved in playing with the kids.
It was Sandeep nd Ujwal  had a great time with the kids in playing with them, Sohini and Santhoshi served the cake for them. Dheeraj and others were touched by the innocence and disabilities of the kids. Dheeraj became a bit emotional for the mentally challenged kids over there of course unseen by our other friends. Bhargav by chance took some blessings from father and we made the two active kids cut the cake.....everyone were on the top of the world.

Amidst all these, there is something that needs a special mention. There is a boy there, who never left Sandeep all through the day, and  he was studying UKG, but have no funding to study further. so as part of Samsthapana's activities we decided to fund the pretty looking kid.

Thanks to Nirmal Sishu Bhavan management for having welcomed us into that paradise of smiles which we have forgotten long back due to our busy schedules….!!!

THANK YOU NIRMAL SISHU BHAVAN FOR MAKING OUR NEW YEAR BEGIN IN A SPL WAY….
HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS….!!!

Want to do some service...BUT...Dont find time..!!

The Mayonnaise Jar & 2 Beers

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor   stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar  effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your career, your college and your studies.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the  golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your siblings. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter.. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.'

The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.'

SO.... FRIENDS WHEN THERE IS ROOM FOR EVERY THING IN YOUR LIFE,,,DON'T YOU THINK THERE CAN ALSO BE A SMALL SPACE IN YOUR BUSY LIVES TO DO SOME THING TO THESE LESS FORTUNATE ONES..!!

SO INSPITE OF YOUR COLLEGE, RECORDS, PROJECTS, FRIENDS, MOVIES, CAREER PLANNING, CAT...MAT..GATE..... STILL YOU CAN FIND SOME TIME FOR THIS SORT OF SOCIAL WORK TOO....DON'T U...!!

ATLEAST STOP SAYING WE ARE TOO BUSY TO FIND SOME TIME FOR THIS..!!

HOPE U WOULD FEEL RESPONSIBLE AT LEAST NOW.....!!

Worth reading atleast once..!!

Hi Friends,

This is a little Tale which may fill Huge confidence in every one. Read it.

A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always Delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the House, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, Perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was Ashamed of its own imperfection. And miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you. I have been able to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes Water to leak out all the way back to your house. Because of my Flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw. So I Planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house?

Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. Remember to appreciate all the different people in your life.

For all of us..!!

HUMAN BEINGS ARE SUCH SMALL CREATURES, AREN'T THEY?

SO DON'T BE TOO  WORRIED ABOUT EVERYTHING,

TREASURE EVERY MOMENT, DO WHAT YOU WISH TO DO.....

BROADEN  YOUR VIEW, BROADEN  YOUR MIND,

DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH  ABOUT THINGS THAT ARE BOTHERING YOU,

DO TREASURE  YOUR LOVED ONES, LIVE SAFELY AND PEACEFULLY,

ALWAYS BE HAPPY TO WELCOME THE COMING OF THE NEW DAY.......  ENJOY  THE SUNSHINE ..

ALWAYS LOOK AT THE BRIGHTER SIDE OF THINGS

Who Were Involved..

A group of Nirmalites started the organization in the month of June this year. This proposal of doing some good to the society as a piece of responsibility was put forth by our friend Dheeraj, at our Nirmala high school re-union ' iget-2009' which is our third get together.

We had our inspiration from 'Nirmann' which was started by the students of ' BITS pilani and 'Sneha foundation' which was started and run by the GITAM students.

Initially we only have a group of nirmalites in the organization later organization expanded its horizons to many other colleges in the state. Some of them are GEC (Gudlavalleru Engineering college), VRSEC vijayawada, KL University vijayawada, Sidhartha Pharmacy college (SCOPS), LakkireddyBalireddy Engineering College, vijayawda, Nimbra Engineering college, Nova Engineering college, vijayawada.

GITAM university vizag, Andhra University(Engineering college), Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology Hyderabad, Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and technology (GRIET )Hyderabad.

Apart from these active members SAMSTHAPANA also has two good mentors who were there right from the beginning to support and initiate all the activities taken up by the members. They are Sneha Latha, an alma matter of GITAM university and founder of gitam's social organization and Jagdish Koneti, student of IIT Kharagpur, and a cheif member of the world famous social organization 'ART OF LIVING'. We extend our hearty thanks to both of them for their support.
